Many teens struggling with substance abuse also face underlying issues such as anxiety or depression. Behavioral therapy can help teens address psychological issues that lead to drinking or drug use.
At Mariposa, our substance abuse therapy is hands-on for both teens and families. Teens learn skills to resist drug use and cope with triggers, or stressful situations and emotions that lead to cravings. Parents learn how to communicate with their teens in an open, honest method so that discussions between family members help keep the home environment healthy.
Group therapy can also be a helpful part of substance abuse treatment for teens. We offer gender-specific groups as well as traditional groups.
